Pavel Kaplevich
Graduated from the acting department of the Moscow Art Theatre school in 1980. For a time was a member of the troupe at the Bryantsev Young Spectator Theatre in Leningrad.
As director and designer, staged Tom Sawyer at the Leningrad Marionette Theatre in 1984. From 1985 to 1988 was costume designer at the School of Dramatic Art in Moscow, creating designs for Cerceau, Six Characters in Search of an Author and The Demons.
Has worked extensively with Vladimir Mirzoev, both as a set and costume designer. Their collaborations include: The Inspector General in Toronto, Canada; Amphitryon and Cyrano de Bergerac at the Vakhtangov Theatre; Khlestakov, The Marriage (costumes), Twelfth Night, The Taming of the Shrew at the Stanislavsky Theatre; Two Women at the Lenkom Theatre. He designed the costumes for Pyotr Fomenko's productions of Caligula (Mossoviet Theatre) and Sovereign, Our Father (Vakhtangov Theatre).
He participated in the creation of productions for the Bogis Agency (Nijinsky), the Sovremennik Theatre (Pygmalion and The Cherry Orchard), the 814 Theatrical Association (Woe from Wit), the Chelovek Theatre-Studio and the Independent Theatre Project agency. Together with Nina Chusova he staged The Storm at the Sovremennik Theatre and IMAGO (which he also produced). In collaboration with Andrii Zholdak he created the production of An Experiment in Assimilating 'The Seagull' by Means of the Stanislavsky System.
Is the founder and artistic director of the Pavel Kaplevich Design Studio.
